The Shanghai International Urban and Architecture Expo, known as the "Urban Expo," stands out as a significant international exhibition focusing on urban construction and management, particularly as a key event for World Cities Day. Co-hosted by UN-HABITAT and the Shanghai Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission and organized by the Shanghai Green Building Association, the expo has been successfully held for ten sessions since its commencement in 2015. It aims to establish itself as an international platform for promoting the achievements of urbanization in China, showcasing the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, providing an experience of Shanghai's urban construction and governance level, and facilitating high-end dialogues and cooperation within the industry.

The Urban Expo shares insights into urban construction, renewal, and operations, focusing on the infrastructure development within the Yangtze River Delta and promoting regional integration. By combining forums, exhibitions, awards, and social activities, the expo reflects the current levels of planning and management both domestically and internationally while advancing orderly implementation through cohesive strategies. It aims to elevate China’s voice and influence in global sustainable urban development.

This edition will feature multiple specialized forums focused on topics such as green building in regions with hot summers and cold winters, integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta, urban renewal, and innovative public space design. The audience will be organized through a reservation system enhanced by government feedback to improve onsite experience and will include representatives from governmental agencies, industry associations, academic institutions, and international corporations. Renowned exhibitors from past sessions, such as the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute, Tianjin University Planning and Design Institute, among others, will present the latest advancements in urban design, architecture, industrialization in construction, and smart city technology. The expo will also cover essential areas like ecological protection, urban renewal, safety in construction, and the development of smart cities, thereby creating a platform for comprehensive discussions and solutions to urban challenges, ultimately working towards building innovative, green, and livable cities.
