Chongqing has long been known for its numerous tea houses, which can be found in every corner of the city, becoming an essential part of daily life. An article published in March 1947 in the Xinmin Newspaper noted that there were 2,659 tea houses within the 9-square-kilometer urban area of Niujiao, illustrating the locals’ enthusiasm for drinking tea.
Chongqing is not only a major city but also one of the world’s original tea tree cultivation areas, with over 3,000 years of tea production history. Among its 40 districts (municipalities), 37 engage in tea cultivation, with approximately ten thousand tea farmers involved in production. The annual tea output of Chongqing is nearly 20,000 tons, generating an economic value of about 300 million yuan, with green tea production accounting for 75% to 80% of the total output.
The 22nd China (Chongqing) International Autumn Tea Industry Expo will take place from November 21 to November 24, 2025, at the Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center (Nanping), hosted by Shenzhen Huajuchen International Exhibition Group Co., Ltd. The expo aims to build a platform for communication, cooperation, and mutual benefits in the tea industry by leveraging national media promotion, event planning, procurement, and resource integration. It will gather renowned tea enterprises and tea-related product companies from across the country, and invite buyers from Chongqing and surrounding provinces for trade matching, promoting the economic development of the tea industry in Chongqing and Southwest China.
The exhibition will feature various famous teas such as black tea, red tea, green tea, white tea, yellow tea, and oolong teas, including famous regional varieties like Yunnan Pu'er, Wuyi Rock Tea, and West Lake Longjing. The event will also cover deep processing products, such as tea pastries, packaged teas, tea beverages, and include companies related to tea packaging, machinery, testing, and distribution, showcasing the entire tea industry chain.
In addition, exquisite tea sets and crafts will be a highlight, featuring Zisha teapots, ceramic art, calligraphy, and classical furniture, allowing exhibitors and visitors to fully experience the charm of Chinese tea culture.
