The 2025 Smart Customs Clearance Technology and Equipment Expo marks a key milestone in China's 14th Five-Year Plan and the preparation for the 15th Five-Year Plan. As a pivotal hub of both domestic and international circulation, customs has consistently upheld its mission of "guarding the national gate and promoting development," continuously advancing two main drivers: institutional innovation and technological empowerment. According to data from the General Administration of Customs, significant progress has been made in the development of smart customs: the coverage of AI intelligent document review systems has reached 97%, and the adoption rate of CT intelligent inspection equipment has reached 92%. Overall customs clearance efficiency has improved by over 60% compared to 2017. These achievements not only reinforce the national security defense line but also provide solid support for the implementation of the RCEP, the Belt and Road Initiative, and high-quality foreign trade development. At the same time, customs faces traditional security risks as well as new challenges related to cross-border data flow and green regulations amid global industry chain restructuring and the digital technology revolution.
In this context, the Smart Customs Clearance Technology and Equipment Expo (formerly the Customs Expo) will respond proactively to the national strategy of "high-level opening up." It will center around two major themes: "Technology Protects National Gate Security" and "Innovation Drives Trade Development," comprehensively showcasing the achievements of smart customs construction. The expo will be guided by the "14th Five-Year Plan for Customs Development" and will focus on mature technical applications including intelligent document review systems and intelligent inspection equipment, while also forward-looking on the development directions of cutting-edge technologies like quantum encryption and biometrics.
By gathering multiple forces from government departments, industry, academia, and research institutions, the expo aims to promote the construction of a self-reliant, controllable smart customs technology ecosystem, providing significant support for building a new development pattern. The Smart Customs Clearance Technology and Equipment Expo is currently the only professional exhibition that targets both inside and outside the customs system, focusing on the foreign trade industry chain, supply chain, and regulatory services. It integrates product displays, result transactions, forum exchanges, and investment cooperation, and has successfully held three editions so far. Previous Customs Expos were organized by the China Customs Media Center under the theme of "optimizing the business environment and promoting high-quality development," focusing on smart customs construction and showcasing advanced technological equipment and solutions such as smart customs regulation systems, intelligent gateway technologies, autonomous container technologies, and 5G port AI inspections, attracting nearly a hundred exhibitors who received widespread praise from the exhibitors and industry professionals.
The 2025 Smart Customs Clearance Technology and Equipment Expo will move towards a more professional, international, and high-quality direction, concentrating on showcasing high-tech applications in scenarios under the new trend of customs clearance facilitation. It will explore the integration of advanced technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, and blockchain with customs regulatory services, providing vivid case studies and pointing out directions for development. The expo will invite exhibitors from sectors including security systems and equipment, police equipment, customs information technology, computer communication, office equipment, inspection and detection, e-government systems, supply chain management, and warehousing and logistics to promote collaboration and development, construct a platform for dialogue and interaction between customs, society, industry, and enterprises, deeply advance the construction of the "three smart" initiative, protect national interests and public safety, and share the fruits of customs development.
Exhibition Function Positioning:
(1) Government-Enterprise Connection -- A platform for connecting information technology and equipment supply and demand for port administration departments. It aims to enhance the practical applications of technological innovation, deeply advance the intelligent management of port infrastructure and services, and create a world-class business environment at ports.
(2) Customs-Enterprise Connection -- A platform for cooperation between smart customs and information technology and equipment enterprises. It will focus on actual tasks of smart customs construction, gather industry-renowned enterprises and top technologies, enhance communication and cooperation between customs and quality suppliers, and build a technology innovation ecological system characterized by "large platforms, micro services, small terminals, and rich ecosystems."
(3) Enterprise-Enterprise Connection -- A platform for connecting the supply and demand of customs information application for foreign trade (trade, manufacturing, and service enterprises). It will establish a cooperative exchange platform for industry chain and supply chain enterprises, coordinating the dual circulation of international and domestic markets to form a closed loop for import and export trade, thereby empowering the high-quality development of foreign trade.
