Shipping is a crucial foundation for economic and social development, as well as an important bridge and link for international trade. According to the International Maritime Organization, shipping accounts for over 80% of global trade. During an inspection at Tianjin Port, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that economic development and national strength must be supported by a strong transportation system, particularly maritime transport. It is imperative to aim high and strive to build world-class smart and green ports to better serve the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the Belt and Road Initiative, making Tianjin a key strategic hub connecting domestic and international dual circulation in Northern China.
