Guangdong Province is one of the important bases for the food industry in China. In recent years, it has introduced several policies to enhance the quality of food processing, including the "Yue Food Better, Yue Quality World" action plan and the implementation guidelines for building a world-class food manufacturing and trade hub. Guangdong has also included prepared food in the government's work reports for three consecutive years, launching a series of supportive policies aimed at driving high-quality development in this sector and promoting local specialty food industries.

According to the "2024 Prepared Food Industry Base Top 100 Research," the prepared food industry in China is rapidly growing, with the number of related enterprises reaching 80,000 in 2023 and a production value of 371.65 billion yuan, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 13%. Shunde District of Foshan ranks third in the country and first in the province, positioning itself as a significant hub for the prepared food industry in China.

To support enterprises in capturing market opportunities, the 2025 Guangdong (Foshan) Prepared Food Industry Expo will continue at the Foshan Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. This year’s expo will adopt a "conference + exhibition" dual-driven approach, providing a comprehensive showcase of the prepared food industry's chain, and creating an integrated platform for production, academia, research, and sales. This will lead the new trends in the market and assist Shunde in becoming the "Capital of Prepared Food in China" and a national model for high-quality development in the industry.

The 2024 expo held from March 15-17 attracted over a thousand exhibitors and visitors from more than twenty provinces in China and from over forty countries including the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. The exhibition covered more than 30,000 square meters and welcomed about 120,000 visitors, achieving over 16 billion yuan in on-site transactions and partnerships.

The exhibition included various zones such as the prepared food ingredient zone, seasoning zone, finished product zone, packaging support zone, food machinery zone, and cold chain logistics zone. These zones featured a broad array of seafood, meat, vegetables, fruits, and their corresponding packaging solutions and cold-chain logistics equipment, reflecting the comprehensive development of the prepared food industry.
