Weihai, also known as Weihaiwei, is a prefecture-level city in Shandong Province, located at the easternmost tip of the Shandong Peninsula, about 37 degrees north latitude, facing the Yellow Sea to the east and the Liaodong Peninsula to the north, with the Korean Peninsula across the sea. Weihai has been approved by the State Council as a regional central city on the Shandong Peninsula, an important marine industry base, and a famous coastal tourist city. It is the birthplace of China's first modern navy, the Beiyang Fleet, and the site of the First Sino-Japanese War. Since becoming one of the first coastal open cities in China in 1984, Weihai has made continuous progress in urban construction and industrial development, being recognized as the first national sanitary city in 1990, and being rated for many years as one of the happiest cities in China.

In the 1960s, the grand "south tea north introduction" project sowed the seeds of tea in Weihai and Jiaodong, and after decades of development, Weihai's tea industry has flourished, making Luxian green tea, Jiaodong red tea, and Rongcheng green tea new calling cards of the city. Currently, Weihai is recognized as the highest latitude, northernmost, and coldest tea-producing region in China and the world, with its teas containing beneficial trace elements much higher than those from other regions, winning the favor of many consumers.

The 2026 8th China (Weihai) International Tea Culture Expo and Zisha Tea Set, Ceramic Painting and Calligraphy, and Red Wood Crafts Exhibition (abbreviated as Weihai Tea Expo) will be grandly held at the Weihai International Exhibition Center from October 16 to 19, 2026. This event is fully planned and organized by Qingdao Sea Star Business and Exhibition Co., Ltd., with eight major exhibition areas featuring famous teas from across the country, Weihai green tea, Rizhao green tea, Zisha art, ceramic tea sets, works from renowned artists, jewelry and jade, and redwood furniture. The organizing committee is dedicated to continuous innovation, attracting more brand tea companies to participate, and enriching the tea cultural activities, using focused efforts to drive the comprehensive trade combination and the rapid prosperity and development of Weihai's tea industry. Formerly powerful at sea, now a city of happiness and livability; Weihai, charming and harmonious, full of vitality, warmly welcomes you!
