The inaugural 2026 Shanghai International Illustration & Pop Show (SIPS) will take place from May 29 to 31, 2026, at the Shanghai Exhibition Center. Organized by BolognaFiere (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and supported by the Shanghai Foreign Cultural Exchange Association and the Cultural Office of the Italian Consulate General in Shanghai, SIPS is an innovative project tailored for the Chinese market, inspired by the renowned Bologna Illustration Fair, which has been promoting contemporary illustration since its inception in 1967.
SIPS aims to integrate international quality illustration resources to create a professional and efficient business matching mechanism. It will bring together over 300 popular commercial brands and content creators from 10 countries and regions, showcasing a rich diversity of illustrated art and creative content. Focusing on the multifaceted commercial applications of illustration, SIPS is committed to bridging the gap between creative content and market demands, enhancing resource integration efficiency and transforming commercial value to support sustainable development in the industry.
Three core segments define the exhibition:
1. Illustration as Art emphasizes the independent value of illustrations in contemporary art, presenting original works, reproductions, and art collaborations that hold collectible significance;
2. Pop and Brand showcases cross-industry applications of illustration within the realms of trendy toys, fashion, and lifestyle, demonstrating how brands convey style and philosophy through illustration;
3. Illustrators Avenue gathers original works and derivative creations by independent illustrators worldwide, forging direct connections between creators, audiences, and markets.
The target audience for SIPS includes three main groups: industry professionals (brands, creative enterprises, retail channels) looking for quality illustrations and collaboration opportunities; collectors (art institutions, collectors, and enthusiasts) in search of unique works; and content creators (illustrators, designers) aiming to expand their networks and professional growth. During the event, a series of professional activities will be held, such as The Illustrators Survival Corner, providing guidance and workshops, and the Master Illustrators Showcase, presenting the representative works of internationally renowned illustrators.
The existence of SIPS marks a significant step in connecting content, market, and collection value, thus injecting new momentum into China’s creative industry.
