Verify a Chinese Supplier Before You Order
Start your China supplier verification with the company behind the quotation. Check a mainland Chinese legal entity and receive an English-language PDF by email, from $12.99 USD excluding VAT.
Who is behind the supplier's trading name?
- Confirm registration. Compare the Chinese legal name and Unified Social Credit Code (USCC), then review registration status, incorporation date, legal representative and registered address.
- Understand ownership. Simple and Standard reports include shareholders and executives, helping you assess who owns and manages the company you intend to buy from.
- Review available risk records. Standard report adds available court records, licenses, certificates, branches and subsidiaries. Use relevant findings to frame questions for the supplier.
Compare the supplier's documents
Ask for the Chinese legal name and business license of the company accepting your order. Use those identifiers consistently across the transaction.
- Business license. Take the Chinese name and 18-character USCC from the license, rather than relying on a translated name in a sales message. See our Chinese business license check for the fields to compare.
- Quotation and contract. Check which company is named as the seller. If the factory, trading company and contracting entity differ, ask the supplier to explain their relationship and identify each entity separately.
- Payment beneficiary. Compare the beneficiary name with the contracting company. A different recipient needs a documented explanation and independent confirmation; a company report does not authenticate bank details.

How to check a Chinese supplier
-
Get the supplier's legal identity
Ask for the Chinese legal name or 18-character USCC. If you only have a website, marketplace profile or documents, use Sherlock identification.
-
Search and confirm the company
Compare the returned legal name, registration number and incorporation date with the supplier's details. An English name alone may produce ambiguous results.
-
Choose your report and pay
Choose Simple report for registration, shareholders and executives, or Standard for additional available records. Enter your email and confirm the final amount and currency at checkout.
-
Review the PDF before committing
Report delivered within 10 minutes after successful payment for Simple and Standard. Compare the records with the quotation and contract, and follow up on discrepancies before placing the order.
Only have a website or Alibaba profile?
Start with what you have. Sherlock option adds manual company identification before the Standard report.
- Share the clues. Send marketplace links, a website, documents, business cards or photos with identifying details.
- Identify the entity. We use the material to help find the company. Report delivered within 2 days after payment, including the Standard report.
- Money-back guarantee. If the company cannot be found from the information provided, the tariff includes a refund.
Data sources and freshness
Available registration information and public records are obtained through company-data providers and organised into an English-language PDF.
- Check the record dates. The generation date is not the last update date of every source. Filings can appear late and sections may be unavailable.
- Match the original identifiers. English renderings help you read the report; use the Chinese legal name and USCC when comparing documents.
- Know what is self-reported. Paid-in capital may come from company annual reports. Public phone numbers and emails may be outdated and are not independently verified.
CNToolbox is not a registration authority; the report is not a certified registry extract. Need a specific record or effective date? Ask about coverage before ordering.

Registration is the starting point
| What company records help you check | What to verify separately |
|---|---|
| The registered identity of the supplier | Whether the salesperson is authorised to represent that company and the contract names the intended seller. |
| Registered business information and available licenses | Factory ownership, production capacity and product quality through an appropriate site visit, audit or inspection. |
| Available court and other risk records with Standard | Payment arrangements, delivery commitments and references. Missing records do not guarantee reliability or future performance. |
China supplier verification FAQs
- How can I check whether a Chinese supplier is registered?
- Ask for the supplier's Chinese legal name or USCC and search for the company above. Confirm the matching entity, then order a report to review its registration status and available business records. Use the same identifiers when comparing the supplier's documents.
- Can I verify a supplier using an Alibaba link?
- Use Sherlock option if you only have an Alibaba profile, website or other clues. It adds manual company identification and a Standard report. Report delivered within 2 days after payment. If the company cannot be found from the information provided, the tariff includes a refund.
- Does a registered company mean the supplier is trustworthy?
- Registration helps establish the legal entity's identity. It does not establish that your contact represents it, that the goods meet your specifications or that an order will be fulfilled. Combine the report with checks on the contract, payment details and supplier's operational capabilities.
- Can a company report confirm that a supplier owns a factory?
- A registered address or business scope does not by itself prove factory ownership or production capacity. Ask which entity operates the factory and arrange a site visit or audit where needed. A trading company may legitimately source goods from a separate manufacturer.
