The National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) is a large-scale exhibition complex jointly established by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal Government in 2011. With a total investment of approximately 16 billion RMB, the center is invested, constructed, and operated by National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.

With a total construction area exceeding 1.5 million square meters, the center integrates exhibitions, conferences, events, commerce, offices, and hotels into a single multifunctional complex. The main building is designed in the shape of a four-leaf clover, symbolizing good fortune, and follows a symmetrical axis design that incorporates numerous Chinese cultural elements, making it one of Shanghai’s landmark buildings. In 2020, the venue was awarded China’s Three-Star Green Building Certification for both design and operation, making it the first large-scale exhibition center in China to achieve this level of green certification.

Strategically located at the heart of the Yangtze River Delta, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) is situated in the western core of the Hongqiao Business District, only 1.5 kilometers from the Hongqiao Transportation Hub. The venue is seamlessly connected to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station and Hongqiao International Airport via sky corridors, underground passages, and Metro Line 2. With an extensive highway network, the center offers 1 to 2-hour access to major cities across the Yangtze River Delta and 2 to 3-hour flights to key economic cities in the Asia-Pacific region.

With innovative design and world-class facilities, the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) serves as a hub for the Yangtze River Delta, China, and the global market. The center plays a crucial role in hosting the China International Import Expo (CIIE) and aims to be a key platform supporting China’s opening-up policy, the Belt and Road Initiative, national commerce and trade development, and Shanghai’s positioning as a global exhibition capital.
