Innovation and technology are the primary driving forces for nurturing new productive forces and the strategic fulcrum for achieving the "dual carbon" goals. Since the 18th National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping has given important instructions regarding new energy systems, new power systems, and new power grids. The central government has also made several significant strategic deployments, emphasizing the acceleration of integrated energy system construction, iterative integration of sources, networks, loads, and storage, and the urgent need to break through key technologies such as fourth-generation nuclear power, deep-sea wind power, next-generation photovoltaics, and long-duration energy storage. Through these efforts, China aims to shape a globally competitive green energy industry cluster, positioning the energy revolution as a new engine for high-quality development.
Currently, global energy technology is undergoing rapid iterations, with China driving energy system reform with a dual focus on "intelligent + green" initiatives. As China’s largest clean energy base, Sichuan has leveraged the strategic advantages of the Chengdu-Chongqing Sci-tech Innovation Corridor to establish a comprehensive clean energy ecosystem covering the entire industrial chain of "source-network-load-storage." This includes capacities ranging from core technology research and development to high-end equipment manufacturing and intelligent operational management.
With its multi-energy complementary coordination system of "water, wind, solar, hydrogen, and nuclear," Sichuan is accelerating its emergence as a global hub for green energy technology innovation and high-end equipment manufacturing, with its power generation equipment consistently ranking first in the world. The scale of its energy equipment industry has surpassed 350 billion yuan, thereby highlighting its crucial role in the global energy transition.
To implement the national energy development strategy, accelerate the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient new energy system, and promote green technological innovation and advanced green energy technology applications, as well as deepen international exchanges and cooperation, the Ministry of Commerce of China has approved the hosting of the "23rd China International Power Industry Expo and Green Energy Equipment Expo (CIPIE 2026)" from May 28-30, 2026, at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center. This year's expo, themed "Driving Smart Upgrades in New Power and Promoting Collaborative Innovation in Energy Sources, Networks, Loads, and Storage," focuses on technological innovation and industry synergy, encouraging cooperation and integrated development across various fields of the green energy ecological chain, including water, wind, solar, storage, hydrogen, transmission and distribution, and smart energy. This high-level platform will promote market expansion for enterprises and facilitate the high-quality development of the green energy industry.
Exhibition highlights include:
1. A one-stop power and distribution equipment area showcasing switchgear, complete sets of low and high-voltage equipment, transformers, and accessories.
2. An IoT and electric power data area covering big data, cloud computing, and AI technology applications.
3. An electrical engineering and manufacturing equipment area featuring electrical equipment, maintenance tools, and insulating materials.
4. An intelligent inspection and emergency equipment area showcasing power inspection robots, drones, and safety tools.
