Since ancient times, Chongqing has been known as the hometown of tea, with a tea culture that is deeply rooted in the city. The city is famous for its numerous tea houses, which can be found in every corner from streets to towns, making them an essential part of local life. According to a report from 1947 in the Xinmin Daily, there were as many as 2,659 tea houses in the small area of Niudao, which is less than 9 square kilometers, highlighting the enthusiasm for tea among the people of Chongqing. The region has over 3,000 years of tea planting history, with tea trees grown in 37 districts and counties, directly involving tens of thousands of tea farmers. Chongqing produces nearly 20,000 tons of tea annually, valued at approximately 300 million yuan, with green tea constituting 75% to 80% of the total production.

The 21st China (Chongqing) International Spring Tea Industry Expo will be held from May 15 to May 18, 2025, at the Chongqing International Convention and Exhibition Center. Organized by the Shenzhen Huajucheng International Exhibition Group, this expo aims to provide a platform for communication and cooperation in the tea industry, leveraging national media publicity, event planning, and resource integration to support its success. The exhibition will gather tea companies and related product enterprises from across the country, focusing on promoting the economic development of Chongqing and the southwest tea industry, facilitating on-site trade matching for buyers.

Highlights of the expo include: renowned tea merchants showcasing high-quality teas such as black tea, red tea, green tea, white tea, yellow tea, and oolong tea; deep-processed tea products including tea snacks, bagged teas, and tea beverages; tea packaging companies displaying quality tea cans and gift boxes; tea machinery and testing equipment demonstrating effective farm management and production technologies; and tea distribution companies actively participating in the expo.

Additionally, the artisan tea ware exhibition area will feature diverse cultural products like Yixing teapots, various crafts, and porcelain, further stimulating audience enthusiasm for tea culture and encouraging innovation and development within the tea industry.
