To enhance the international competitiveness of the service industry and service trade, and to fully leverage the role of the service industry in accelerating the transformation of the economic development model, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council approved the joint organization of the China (Beijing) International Fair for Trade in Services (shortened as CIFTIS) by the Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Government in 2012. In 2019, the event was renamed the China International Fair for Trade in Services, and by 2020, the abbreviation was changed from "CIFTIS" to "Service Trade Fair". Since 2020, the Fair has entered a new stage of quality improvement and upgrading as China enters a new era.
The Service Trade Fair is a significant exhibition in China's global service trade landscape, dedicated to building an international and comprehensive platform for showcasing and trading services. It aims to raise the international competitiveness of the service industry and service trade, while promoting global economic integration and the open sharing of the service economy. President Xi Jinping has highlighted the importance of the Fair by addressing it via video or congratulatory letters for seven consecutive sessions, emphasizing its crucial role in China's opening-up, cooperation deepening, and leading innovation.
With the theme of "Global Services, Mutual Benefit and Shared Growth," the Fair seeks to attract exhibitors and visitors from all countries and regions, as well as international organizations and well-known enterprises. The Service Trade Fair sincerely welcomes exhibitors and participants from around the world to engage in negotiations and cooperation, working together to promote an open and shared service economy that injects new vitality into global economic development.
