2026 34th National Book Fair

The 34th National Book Fair (referred to as the Book Fair), organized by the National Press and Publication Administration and co-hosted by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and Hangzhou Municipal People's Government, will be held in Hangzhou from July 24 to 27, 2026, with the theme "Book Fragrance China, The Beauty of Reading". This is the first time the National Book Fair has come to Zhejiang, marking another national cultural event, following the second National Reading Conference that collaborates with the province.

This year's Book Fair serves as an important platform for implementing the "National Reading Promotion Regulations", promoting continuous and normal reading activities throughout the country, fostering a love for books, and creating a reading-friendly atmosphere in society.

The fair adopts a "1+3+3+N" venue format, primarily based at the Hangzhou International Expo Center, with three sub-venues in Ningbo, Jiaxing, and Liangzhu in Hangzhou, as well as three online sub-venues on Taobao, JD.com, and Dangdang. The main venue features 8 themed exhibition areas, including a thematic exhibition area, Jing version exhibition area, provincial group exhibition area, children's reading exhibition area, specialty bookstore area, and a "Culture + Technology" exhibition area, showcasing over 200,000 selected titles. The online sub-venues will simultaneously promote 1 million quality books and engage over 10,000 public reading spaces such as physical bookstores, libraries, urban reading rooms, and rural bookstores, bringing the fragrance of books directly to readers' homes.

This year's Book Fair stands out for its special exhibitions, reading activities, the volume of new books, affordability, and the fusion of culture and technology. The Ningbo sub-venue, themed “I Accompany Kids to Read Classics in Book Fragrant Ningbo,” plans seven series of activities around parent-child reading.

The Jiaxing sub-venue, themed “Reading Yangtze River with Celebrities,” showcases the unique charm of Jiangnan culture intertwined with red culture, while activating intellectual property resources from notable figures and transforming the traditional exhibition model into an immersive reading experience.

The Hangzhou Liangzhu sub-venue, themed “Tracing Civilization, Reading Brings Benefits,” deeply integrates national reading with world heritage showcases, using multiple cultural landmarks for readers' immersive experiences.

Through nine thematic exhibitions, the fair will display quality books focusing on the high-quality development of the publishing industry in the new era. Key exhibitions include “The Light of Truth – Exhibition of Party’s Innovation Theory Publishing Achievements” and “Seeing China – National Book Boutique Exhibition,” showcasing the latest theories and practices of Chinese-style modernization and enriching public cultural life, thereby enhancing cultural confidence and awareness among the community.
